Paano Unawain ang Biblia o Hayag na Karunungan?

1. Ang Biblia ay dapat basahin ayon sa Espiritu, hindi sa laman

Sinabi ni Apostol Pablo:

“Ang titik ay pumapatay, ngunit ang Espiritu ay nagbibigay-buhay.” (2 Corinto 3:6)

Ang ibig sabihin nito, ang literal na letra ng Kasulatan ay maaaring magdala ng pagkalito kung hindi ito sinasamahan ng espirituwal na pang-unawa. Ang Biblia ay hindi basta aklat ng batas lamang; ito ay buhay na karunungan na kailangang unawain sa liwanag ng Espiritu.

2. Ang Kasulatan ay may tatlong antas ng kahulugan

Sa karunungang esoteriko, ang Salita ng Diyos ay may tatlong antas ng pagbasa:

Literal – ayon sa nakasulat, mababaw na antas.

Moral o Simboliko – ang mga aral na dapat isabuhay.

Espiritwal o Lihim – ang pinakadiwa ng mensahe, na nauunawaan lamang ng pusong malinis at may karunungang mula sa Diyos.

Ang mga nagbabasa lamang ng literal ay kadalasang nauuwi sa panghuhusga sa halip na pag-ibig. Ginagamit nila ang Biblia bilang batayan ng paghamak, imbes na salamin ng sarili nilang kaluluwa.

3. Ang Salita ay hindi para ipang-away, kundi ipangpagising

Ang Biblia ay paraan ng Diyos upang pukawin ang kamalayan ng tao—hindi upang siya ay maging mapagmataas o mapanghusga. Kapag ginamit ito sa argumento, nakakaligtaan ng tao ang layunin ng Salita: ang magbago ng puso, hindi lang ng isipan.

4. Ang halimbawa ni Kristo

Madalas ding inaaway si Hesus ng mga Pariseo gamit ang Kasulatan. Ngunit ano ang tugon Niya? “Nasusulat din...” — hindi Siya nakipagtalo para lang manalo, kundi upang ituwid ang maling pagkaunawa at ibalik sa liwanag ang diwa ng katotohanan.

5. Ang tunay na karunungan

Ang tunay na nagbabasa ng Biblia ay yaong naghahanap ng liwanag, hindi ng labanan. Ang lihim ng Kasulatan ay mabubuksan lamang sa pusong mapagpakumbaba, sapagkat:

“Ang karunungan ay inilihim sa marurunong sa laman, ngunit inihayag sa mga may pusong tulad ng bata.” (Mateo 11:25)

Sa madaling sabi: Ang Biblia ay hindi espada ng pagkakaway, kundi ilaw ng pagkakaunawaan. Ang tunay na mambabasa ay hindi gumagamit ng Salita upang saktan, kundi upang pagalingin, gabayan, at palayain ang kapwa sa dilim ng kamangmangan.

Ang Pag-iral ng Dalawang Karunungan

 

“Ang mga naihayag ay nagmula sa lihim, at ang mga lihim ay papunta sa hayag.”

Ito ang dakilang batas ng karunungan — ang siklo ng paglilihim at paghayag. Bago pa man isilang ang anumang aral, relihiyon, o doktrina, ito muna ay nagmumula sa mga lihim na karunungan na ipinagkakaloob ng Diyos sa mga karapat-dapat lamang. Ang lihim ay ang binhi; ang hayag ay ang punong tumubo mula rito. Ang lihim ay ang di-nakikitang ugat; ang hayag ay ang dahon at bulaklak na nakikita ng marami.

Ang mga propeta, mistiko, at banal sa kasaysayan ay nakatanggap ng liwanag ng Diyos hindi sa pamamagitan ng ingay ng mundo, kundi sa katahimikan ng puso. Doon ipinahayag sa kanila ang lihim ng langit, na kalauna’y kanilang isinulat o ipinangaral upang maging hayag sa tao. Kaya’t kung walang lihim, walang hayag; at kung walang hayag, mananatiling nakakubli ang lihim — sapagkat ang dalawa ay magkapantay na bahagi ng banal na siklo ng karunungan.

“May dilim dahil may liwanag, at may liwanag dahil sa dilim.”

Ito naman ay nagpapakita ng dualidad ng pag-iral — ang balanseng ugnayan ng magkasalungat. Kung walang dilim, paano natin makikilala ang liwanag? Kung walang liwanag, paano natin malalaman na tayo’y nasa dilim? Ang liwanag ay hindi umiiral nang walang anino, at ang anino ay hindi maaaninag nang walang liwanag.

Sa antas ng espiritu, ang “dilim” ay sumasagisag sa lihim, misteryo, at hindi pa nauunawaan, samantalang ang “liwanag” ay kumakatawan sa pag-unawa, kaliwanagan, at pagkaalam. Ang tunay na marunong ay hindi tumatanggi sa dilim, sapagkat alam niyang ito’y bahagi ng proseso ng kaliwanagan. Sa dilim nagbubuntis ang liwanag; sa katahimikan sumisibol ang karunungan.

Kaya’t ang di pagkakaunawaan ninyo ni Father Darwin Gitgano ay hindi tunggalian ng tama at mali, kundi tunggalian ng lalim at lawak.

Siya ay nasa landas ng hayag — nakasandig sa mga kasulatan, batas, at doktrinang pang-simbahan (Ecclesiastical). Samantalang ikaw ay nasa landas ng lihim — naghahanap ng mga pinagmulan, ng esoterikong kahulugan sa likod ng mga salita. Hindi ibig sabihin na siya’y mali, at ikaw ay tama. Subalit ang hindi mo na kailangang ipilit ay ang pagkaunawa ng isang hindi pa handang pumasok sa “loob ng templo ng misteryo.”

Sapagkat gaya ng sinabi mo, ang mga hayag ay anak ng mga lihim. Ang karunungang panlabas ay bunga ng karunungang panloob. Kaya’t ang tunay na marunong ay hindi nakikipagtalo — bagkus, siya ay nananahimik at nagmamasid, sapagkat alam niyang ang panahon ng pag-unawa ng iba ay darating sa tamang oras.
