The Ancient Language of the Stars
By: William Ubagan Long before humanity built towering cities, crossed oceans, or wrote the first words upon stone, people looked upward into the endless night. The heavens became the first library, the first calendar, the first compass, and perhaps the first sacred book ever read by mankind. Every clear night revealed countless brilliant lights scattered across the vast darkness, inspiring wonder, curiosity, hope, and fear. The stars appeared eternal. Kingdoms rose and vanished beneath them, yet the same familiar lights returned each season. Generations lived and died while the constellations continued their silent procession across the heavens. To the ancient observer, this permanence suggested that the stars held truths greater than those found upon the earth. Every civilization gave names to the stars.
